The 11 hour flight wasn’t bad, and customs was quick, but having to wait until 5 (having arrived and gotten through customs by 4) for the shuttle bus’s almost 2 hour trip to the Seminar Houses was painstakingly slow. Although we got to see the outskirts of Osaka from the highway, we haven’t gotten the opportunity yet to really explore. (High chances of doing so today.)
Aside from that, after having gotten here around 7, and getting settled in by 8, we were pretty much starving and had to walk to the nearest convenience store (15-20 minutes?) to buy food and be back before they closed the gates. Also, we’re going to have to fend for ourselves off our own money for about a month before our savings accounts are filled with our food stipend.
For the temporary housing arrangements, one of the guys staying in my room had his luggage lost by the airlines. I feel bad for him since he didn’t bring a carry-on with clothes and is living with the clothes on his back. Uncle Steve’s story had me make sure to take a carry-on with some clothes in it, to prevent such an occurrence.
I’m still a bit tired. I slept about 6 hours and feel like napping now. I’ve been looking over the paperwork for the various things we have to do between now and next Sunday. It really seems overwhelming, but I’m sure it’ll smooth out in a couple weeks.
Pictures to come at a time when the internet will actually allow me to upload them.
